The questions below are the ones real Manchester movers ask us every week. Short answers first, detail after — and if yours isn’t here, call and ask a human.
How long does a 3-bed house move take?
A full day: loading typically takes 3–4 hours with a three-person crew, the drive depends on the route, and unloading runs quicker than loading. Local 3-bed moves booked for 8am are usually finished by late afternoon, even with a 1pm key handover in the middle.
Do movers empty the loft?
If it’s boarded and safely accessible, yes — tell us at the survey so it’s in the quote. If it’s unboarded, we’ll ask you to bring things down to the landing first; crews can’t balance on joists with your boxes.
Can I travel in the van with you?
Usually yes — most of our vans have a spare seat, and it’s first come between you and the houseplants. Ask when you book so we send a van with room.
Do you move plants?
Yes, as the last things on and first things off. Tall plants travel best boxed at the base; we can’t insure living things against a sulk, but we’ve never lost a monstera yet.
What happens with fridges and freezers?
Empty and defrost the freezer 24 hours before the move (towel in the bottom, door open). Fridges travel upright and should stand for 4 hours at the other end before switching on.
What about moving with pets?
Pets can’t travel in the moving van. Plan a room that empties first, keep them in it with the door signed, and move them yourself last. For long moves, many families book a cattery or a friend for the day — calmer for everyone.
Do I need to empty drawers?
Clothes can stay in sturdy drawers for local moves — we’ll shrink-wrap the unit shut. Empty anything heavy, breakable or valuable: paperwork, jewellery, that drawer of cables.
Do you disconnect and move washing machines?
We move them and fit the transit brackets if you have them. Disconnection from water is simple and we’ll do it; plumbing-in at the new place is one for a plumber, and we’ll position the machine ready.
What if it rains on moving day?
We move anyway — this is Manchester. Floor protection down, blankets over furniture on the walk, and doormats at both ends. Rain has never cancelled a Muvers move.
What if my new place isn’t ready?
We load as planned, hold everything in secure storage, and deliver when you have keys — one quote covers both legs. It’s the most common plot twist in a chain and we’ve built the service around it.
Can you take unwanted things to the tip?
We’re a removals firm rather than a licensed waste carrier, so we can’t tip for you — but tell us what’s not travelling and we’ll point you to the right local option, from charity collection to council bulky pickup.
How do I pay, and when?
A small deposit books your date; the balance is due on completion by card or bank transfer. No cash-on-the-day demands, ever — if anyone in a Muvers shirt asks for cash, that’s a phone call we want to hear about.
